![]() I can certainly understand your view point as well, no to mention mention the price point! I guess for me as far as the built like a tank point of view, I suppose it would be train as your fight stance. DMR seems to become a thing though, I'm considering a DMR HT at the moment, just shopping around to see what I can find that will be durable and has a good battery life. Most of the time, its folks just testing their equipment. I do strongly agree with you on hearing a ham on the air with any equipment, I dont hear any conversations for days sometimes. Most people just assume its a work phone, so even if someone broke into my car, they'd just see a shitty looking flip phone and move on. I just like the idea of having a radio in my pocket or car, and not really causing a lot of attention. Not exactly the best radio in the world in terms of PEP and battery life but it does have some cool factor to it. granted its a P25 radio disguised as a iden phone, however its basically a XTS5000 that is miniaturized to fit into a phone form factor. he wanted to take a look at everyones radio, and when he got to mine, he was just like dude wtf is that thing. I think I even offended the guy who was running the club. everyone pretty much all had the amateur style radios except for me. My last meeting with my local one was a bit so so, it was going well until they saw my radio (motorola XTS4000). I should join the local club in my area and hang out with them. I don't know what we're going to do when they pass away and there's no one to maintain the towers. In my area, it's usually the old timers who use the ham radios and maintain the towers. Yeah, I honestly don't care what you use as long as it doesn't start a fire or cause a plane to crash. r/WSJTX - Weak Signal Modes! /r/hamradio - Another amateur radio subreddit! r/parksontheair/ - POTA (Parks On The Air) r/amateursatellites/ - Satellite weather RX r/mursradio/ - related to the Multi-Use Radio Service in the USA. r/hamcasters - ham related youtube, podcasts and more r/hamdevs - Hardware/Software Development r/flexradiosystems - Flex Your SDR Muscles r/EmComm - Subreddit For Emergency Communications r/baofeng - Subreddit Dedicated to the Baofeng Radio r/hamitforward - Pay It Forward, ham radio style r/MMDVM - Multi Media Digital Voice Modem r/hamspots - Tell others about on air stations r/dmr - For the digitalest radio contacts r/amateurradio group on the Brandmeister network - TG 98003 - Listen Live - This talkgroup is bridged to AllStarLink node 48224 and Echolink node W5RI-L and on D-Star via XLX216 Module E Related Subreddits Have access to either DMR (on the Brandmeister Network), Echolink, Allstar or D-Star?
